ABOUT AIM KW SCHOOL
Welcome to Innovative Learning at AIM!
With over 30 years of combined experience in teaching, we feel strongly that AIM KW School represents an innovative movement in education: personalized, student-centered learning!
We have developed a model of teaching and learning that blends the findings of recent educational studies with the tried and tested strategies we've used in our classrooms over the years. We are life-long learners who are passionate about professional development, and believe strongly that today's technology is a driving force behind the changing face of education.
With AIM, it is our goal to create an alternative educational environment that is designed to meet the needs of students who need an educational plan tailor-made to suit their style of learning. Whether they require academic support, enrichment challenges, or simply the freedom to move around as they learn, we recognize the need to reach each kid individually, meeting them at their level and moving at their pace.
We know that AIM ensures individualized success for students . We welcome the opportunity to meet with you to discuss a personalized learning plan for your child!

Principal of AIM Director of AIM
My family has been in the Kitchener-Waterloo region for several years. At the age of fourteen my parents and I moved to Belize, Central America. I enjoyed the culturally rich environment for over sixteen years. I completed my Bachelor of Education and taught in a private international school for over ten years. In 2011 my husband, two children, and I relocated to Kitchener, Ontario. We have been enjoying reconnecting with my family in the area. My degree is recognized by the Ontario College of Teachers, and I remain a member of good standing with the OCT. I have been teaching in Ontario for three years, with special education training, and training for individuals with exceptionalities through Sunbeam Centre.
By combining my teaching experiences with my current studies in Queen's Master of Education program, I have developed a strong philosophy of teaching and learning. I have seen how alternative, flexible, personalized education benefits and enhances student learning. As a co-founder and co-developer, I am passionate about the unique program we offer at AIM KW School. Our philosophy is based on sound educational research, and is an innovative educational model that is successful around the world. I am excited to be part of global educational change.
I grew up in a small town on Georgian Bay, and went to university in Peterborough, Ontario. Upon graduation, I decided that my world was too small, so I went exploring, spending the better part of ten years living and teaching throughout Europe and Asia. From English Immersion Kindergarten and Primary School to University and College prepratory courses, every one of my teaching positions throughout my travels has contributed to the teacher I am today.
I currently live in Kitchener, Ontario with my wonderful husband Denny, and our shihtzu, Bali. Denny and I met in Taiwan, we married in Indonesia, (his country of origin), and then moved to Canada in 2006 where I began my career as a special education teacher.
With 16 years of experience as an educator, I've seen how students succeed and flourish in a flexible environment where they are free to learn in ways that are unique to them. Building on my experiences, I am now finishing up my Master's degree in Literacy Education, and am a proud co-founder and co-developer of Waterloo Region's first alternative school, AIM KW School.
